Knight Rider returns as a Mustang
I was a bit surprised how “not bad” the made-for-tv movie of the new Knight Rider was last night, even though it was a sacrilege to use a Mustang instead of a Trans Am. I’ve been a huge Trans Am fan since I took a 1982 TA to homecoming some 15 years ago, courtesy of my date’s brother, and I suppose there wasn’t much choice for the new KR as the TA suspended production in 2002. Ford must have paid billions for the product placement as the movie was littered with the new Focus, Fusions, Edges and of course, various Mustangs.I read recently on Autoblog that GM has no plans to resurrect the Trans Am as a platform sibling of the forth-coming Camaro and it’s a crying shame given the rendering:

This would absolutely make a suitable replacement for my old man car, but I must admit, the Mustang placement in the Knight Rider movie got me thinking. Of course I would have to sleep in it once my wife throws me out of the house! Oh well, she couldn’t stay upset forever … could she?
